2000. A new book. About football... A new turn? An accident? Oh,
no! It`s turned out that everything is normal and natural.
"Erik Mykland" is the title of the book that`s stirred
up at least the football world of Norway and the whole of the country
at most. The example biography of one player has revealed the problems
that concern not only football, but also all society.
The book consists of four parts:
1 - "Oppvekst" ("Youth").
2 - "Livsstil" ("Lifestyle").
3 - "EM2000" ("The European Championship 2000").
4 - "Spillestil" ("The style of playing").
The
book provoked scandal and puts a lot of questions which you either get
answers to or find them growing still bigger as you leaf through the
pages you`ve read.
" - What did your bohemian friends say when they heard that
you were going to write a book about a footballer?
- It was definitely a negative reaction. One of them - a prominent writer,
a state award laureat, on learning about the project said: “This is
prostitution, Håvard!”. But later on he went back on his words...”
" - Football has always been a priority
with me among lots of other things. To become a professional footballer
was my dream when I was a boy. But that wasn`t my life`s objective.
Just a dream... And what`s a boy without a dream? As for me, I`ve never
met one...”
A
brief note.
Håvard Rem has written about (and played!) football all his
life. Still a child, he played in a club team in Sørfjell against
Risør (first Mykland`s team years later). In 1994 at the World
Championship he did the commentary for Agderposten.
At the European Championship 2000 – for Dagbladet.
As a South Norway resident and a Start-fan, from 1990 he followed Erik
Mykland`s career and his “makrellfotball”. So as a result of their collaboration
the given book came out.
